QUESTION 3 (24 MARKS)

a) State clearly the population of your study.

A collections of all UUM FEMALE UNDERGRADUATE SEMESTER 4 and 6 to see how

people have an obesity issue and the health risks of being obese.

The average height, weight for student UUM Female Undergraduate Semester 4 & 6.

b) Explain clearly how you did the convenience sampling.

We do sampling by using the sampling and measuring waistline respondent itself using the
measuring tape.

c) Give one (1) reason why it is advisable that the researcher conduct the measurement
of the weight of the individuals in the sample instead of asking them to fill the values in
surveys.

The reason why we as researchers are advised to carry out measurements of a person's weight
in the sample is to prevent fraudsters from the information provided by the individuals
themselves.

d) Print all the data values of the variables that you have collected and also created.

(Note: Prints values from the excel file name

e) Compute the mean, median and mode for BMI. Then, interpret the values.

Mean

Formula:

X=X
n

X = 30.04 + 30.50 + 21.50 + 18.01 + 24.15 + 17.50 +28.04 + 20.81 + 22.54 + 24.21 + 23.23

+ 23.63 + 21.88 + 20.55 + 26.22 + 26.70 + 27.50 + 28.10 + 26.43 + 21.90 + 23.14 +

+ 19.10 + 21.40 + 21.83 + 25.91

25

= 594.82
25

= 23.7928 #

Median

Depth of median = n+1

2
= 25+1
2
= 13#

Determine the value of the median

Median = 23.23

Mode = 21
f) Determine and compare the shape of the distribution of BMI and BQ.

Mean BQ = X = X
N

= 1252.2
25

= 50.10 #

Depth of median = 25 + 1
2

= 13

Median = 48.5

Mode = 51.0

The value of mean, median and mode of BQ are largest than the value of mean, median and
mode of BMI.

g) Compare the dispersion of height-in-cm and weight-in-kg.

Total dispersion of height-in-cm 3968

Total dispersion of weight-in-kg 1501

The dispersion of height is 3968, move dispersion compared to weight is 1501.

h) Write at least TWO (2) sentences to summarize the findings from your study.

1. We were measured waist circumference of individuals by ourselves.

2. We have to apply excel to contribute the data.
