To whom it may concern:

We are students from the academy of global studies at Austin High School, in Austin
Texas. Our names our Jack Apperson, Bailey Pratt and Matthew Beck. In Geometry we are
working on a project where we evaluate the packaging of a product and diagnose flaws and
eventually make improvements in the packaging design. When we were looking for a product to
improve we noticed your Avengers Age of Ultron Hulk Action Figure 10cm had an excess
amount of cardboard on the packaging. We then repackaged the product and decreased the
amount of excess cardboard and plastic used in the original packaging.
We performed experiments to find the volume of the volume of the original package
without the hulk and the original package with the hulk to determine the volume of the hulk and
the excess space. After performing the experiments by submerging the package into water and
measuring the volume, we found that the total surface area of the plastic was 539.81cm^2. The
total surface area of the cardboard was 213cm^2 and 259cm^3 of excess airspace. Our new
design for Hasbro games reduces the excess airspace by 100%. We also reduced the total surface
of the plastic by 100%. We reduced the total surface area of the cardboard by 53.2% which
leaves the total surface area of the cardboard at 100cm^2. This loss of used materials helps the
product become more economically efficient while still remaining appealing to the consumer.
Our new design cuts down on the total amount of material used, while still appealing to
the consumer by letting the customer view the whole hulk. Our new design not only is
economically efficient but is eco friendly because we use all recyclable and biodegradable
material. In total we cut down 652.81cm^2 worth of material, but we were able to put all of the
needed product information on the back of the product. In our prototype we used string but we
recommend using zip ties or wires to better hold down the action figure. Our product will still
take up a good amount of shelf space because we merely took off the plastic covering the hulk. If
you would like to see our prototype look at the pictures attached to the document. We are
looking forward to hearing your comments on our design idea. Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,

Matthew Beck, Jack Apperson and Bailey Pratt
