Whom It May Concern, May 4, 2017

Our names are Brianna, Cate, Emma, and Maya and we attend Austin High School in Austin,
Texas. We decided to review the packaging of your product (The Veggetti) for our packaging project in
our 9th grade geometry class. The goal for this project was to find a product we believed had excess
packaging and come up with possible solutions to make the exterior more eco friendly without changing
the size of the actual product. We chose the veggetti because we thought we could come up with a new
design that minimizes plastic and air space.
To prepare for our new design, we measured the sides with a ruler and found the surface area of
the package which ended up being 1178.5 centimeters squared. We got this number by adding all the
areas of the sides together. We also found the volume and unused airspace of the package. We did this
by using the volume formulas for each of the faces and adding those together which we found to be 2145
centimeters cubed. We then took the volume of the actual product (The Veggetti) which we calculated to
be 500.24 centimeters cubed. To find unused air space, we subtracted the product volume from the whole
package volume then divided that by the whole package volume and multiplied that by 100. Our result
was 76%.
Although plastic and cardboard can be arguably equally recyclable, a cardboard approach will
break down easier and be more environmentally friendly. It will also make the package easier to open as
we had troubles pulling the tab on the plastic to open the box. With our new package design, itll only use
621 centimeters squared of material. The volume of our designed box will be 812 centimeters cubed
which is significantly smaller than the original. The volume of the product will remain the same at 500.24
centimeters cubed. This means that the new and improved design will only have 38% unused air space.
We also noticed that your original product packaging allows the consumer to see the full product through
the plastic so we think it would also be a good idea to add a clear plastic front side to our design so
possible buyers can examine the Veggetti. Our six sided box design also leaves plenty of room for
advertisements. We had a great learning experience reviewing and working with your product and learned
a lot about a manufacturer and consumer perspective. To see our product please look at the pictures
below , and please write us back with any questions comments or concerns. We look forward to hearing
your input. Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,
