Leadership Skills & Experience

I have been involved in leadership experiences since I began volunteering at an

environmental education program during my senior year of high school. My leadership has
mostly consisted of environmental education teaching experiences, although I also have
some experience in outdoor adventure leadership. I have taught nature lessons to
preschool students ranging from age 2-5 on more than 35 occasions, led a summer day
camp program for campers age 10-16 for two weeks, and spent nine weeks volunteering
with students age 2-5 at the Asheville Forest School in addition to the work I did with
school students age 8-12 and their chaperones during my high school years. In addition, I
have been a student or personal leader on several different outdoor trips, totaling 6 days of
outdoor leadership4 on backpacking trips and 3 on canoeing trips. On all of these
outdoor trips I led fellow college students, except for one backpacking trip where I led my
family.
