paw ¥.1ar ranaeewmatavaste STATE OF HAWAII "NOU Saat oan April 25, 2017 To Whom It May Concern, April Pauline has completed her student teacher experience from January to May 2017,at Kapalama Elementary located on the island of Oahu. ‘The class consisted of 17 heterogencous kindergarteners from diverse socio-economical and multi-cultural backgrounds, ‘April displayed outstanding initiative to manage the students during class transitions and daily routines in January. During her four-week solo student teaching experience, she planned an appropriate hands-on “Living Things” unit that provided students with a first-hand experience of raising caterpillars in the classroom. She came prepared with lesson plans and materials, which contributed to her successful and effective presentations. The relevant Integrated activities stimulated and promoted student success to meet kindergarten Common Core State Standards. April also collaborated with colleagues in grade level DATA teats to develop SMART goals. She participated ina research-based Lesson Study by observing lessons that implemented mathematical practices. April had a warm, friendly, and supportive relationship with her students. Sensitive to their needs and feelings, she gained a positive rapport with her students. As she progressed in her student teaching she practiced firmness, consistency and fairtess to maintain proficient classroom management. Her instructions were explicit for five and six year-old children to comprehend. She accepted evaluative feedback professionally and made adjusted to her performance strategies. April also maintained communication with parents as she wrote weekly newsletters and used a parent-teacher communication tool called Remind, Organization skills and work ethics are also April's strength. She demonstrated a willingness to learn as she volunteered 300+ hours in the classroom prior to Student Teaching in the Fall 2016 Semester. She was consistently punctual, as she has attended class daily. highly recommend April be employed as an elementary school teacher. She shows a sincere dedication to the teaching profession. She eame ta school daily with an open mind, a bright smile and a kind attitude. She humbly strives for a spirit of excellence with high expectations of herself as.a teacher as well for her students.
