Scholarship Essay

During my early high school career, I wanted to go to a large college.

Over the past 2 years I have changed my mind and am deciding to go with a

more hands on career. I have always enjoyed working manual labor jobs and

have enjoyed the competitive pay in the field of work. That is why I would

like to get my welding certification at DMACC.

Freshman year, I took a welding course at my school and enjoyed the

metal work we did and the projects we completed. I found that I have a

talent with welding that not everyone has. With my creativity and high

interest in welding I excelled in the class and signed up for DMACC welding at

the beginning of my senior year.

Welding in Perry at DMACC has been a great learning experience. I

have learned about the different kinds of welding, techniques to improve

weld appeal and strength, and other helpful information to help kick off my

pursuit to becoming a welder. I now have lots of hands on experience with

welding. I recently purchased a welder of my own and continue to practice

and create projects such as metal signs, repairs on cars, and artwork such as

sculptors. I am very motivated to become the best welder that I can be.

My motivation to become a welder has driven me to apply for the

certification and deeper classes for welding. My passion for metal work has

inspired me to apply for my welding classes and certification at DMACC.

I am a hard worker when motivated, I am persistent, and I put in effort

when working on things I like. I am dedicated to making myself better and

getting a deeper education on welding and the industry surrounding it. I

believe that I should get the spot for this class because of how much I

believe, personally, that I will be successful in this trade.
