This rigorous academic program incorporates a year-long, student-directed senior research project. For this project, Maggie is building a solar panel and will use it to power the water pump in another student's project on tower gardening. She isa life-long leamer who truly appreciates the connections between academic areas, as well as between her own actions and the global community. In my class she quickly stood out as an individual ofthe greatest integrity. Now, as an upper classman, I depend on her to reach out to younger students and make the Natural Resources a family. Maggie consistently takes initiative to improve both the academic and social aspects of this group, In addition to her work in Natural Resources Maggie has volunteered for Generation Green, which partners with the US Forest Service to further environmental education, She frequently spends Saturdays at the E! Dorado High Natural Resources campus doing facility upkeep. This has not only given her practical experience in conservation biology, but has afforded her the ‘opportunity to work with peers and professionals, building her invaluable interpersonal skills.
