Our Honble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, envisages a Digital

India to bridge the digital divide in our country and further promote
digital literacy in order to make development a comprehensive mass
movement and put governance within everyones reach in India. In order
to work towards our PMs vision, Ministry of HRD, All India Council
for Technical Education (AICTE) proposed the Smart India Hackathon
2017, a unique initiative to identify new and disruptive digital
technology innovations for solving the challenges faced by our country.

It was a plan to challenge the students to think out-of-the-box and offer

innovative ideas to built smart applications which will help address
major real time problems in our country. Twenty-nine Departments of
Government of India participated in this event. Each Department had
identified few problem statements to which students were expected to
provide innovative, sustainable digital solutions. This was the first effort
by Government of India to involve young students in proposing
solutions for problems faced by Departments in day-to-day functioning.
This led the students to think out of box and provide innovative,
disruptive and sustainable solutions, which could be pursued after the
Hackathon for further refining of solutions.

Smart India Hackathon 2017 is being organized by MHRD during 1st &
2nd April 2017 across the country. Total 26 cities have been identified
where in students will participate in Hackathon to solve challenges given
by 29 union ministries concurrently during this 36 hours program.
MHRD/AICTE has selected Ahmadabad as one of the host centre which
will have to host about 55 teams comprising 440 students coming from
across the nation.

Union HRD minister will inaugurate this event through video conference
and Hon PM had deliver video lecture to all the participants across the
nation during Hackathon to inspire young minds. It is likely that Hon
Education minister and Hon Chief Minister of Gujarat may inaugurate
