1 Course Description
This course will introduce concepts on environmental protection legislation, environmental impact assessment
(EIA) process and environmental impacts during industrial operation, mitigation measures, modelling,
environmental monitoring and audit. This course will conduct present current environmental issues and
management concepts; apply essential chemical and physical principles required to understand pollution
problems; integrate knowledge from science and engineering to solve and assess environmental problems
affecting water, air, noise and waste; cover concepts, ordinances and case studies of environmental impact
assessment in Industries.
2 Prerequisites

3 Course Objective
Upon taking the course the students are expected to:
1. Able to explain what is EIA.
2. Understand theories, methods and systems of EIA.
3. Explain methodologies of impact prediction, evaluation and their challenges.
4. Uunderstand pollution problems by Industries, to solve and assess environmental problems affecting water,
air, noise and waste.
5. Evaluate the quality and completeness of existing EIAs
6. Appreciate the importance of EIA for sustainable development and a healthy environment
4 Course Format
The course will be conducted one times in a week as theoretical.

Student performance will be marked based on the following structure (Table 1):

9 Test Coverage
