Venetian Carnival Masks

Did you know that these masks were
used to hide the wearers identity or
social status? Well it was. The culture I
study for my mask project was the
Venetian culture which is from italy. I
researched this culture because I liked
the decoration and the style they use to
create these types of masks.
This culture is called Venetian culture
and its located at Venice, Italy. This
culture started in 1168 as a celebration
of a victory when they won against
Ulrico, Patriarch of Aquileia, and
became an every year event until the
was again reestablished in 1979 and it
was again held annually.
Traditional Venetian Masks are made of
either Porcelain or Papier Mache,
making them either fragile or heavy. The
decoration they used to create these
types of masks are fur, feathers fabric,
and gems. Venetian masks are usually
used during the carnival of venice
Most of the decoration on the mask I
created are my own decoration. The only
things I copied was the feathers and the
gems, the rest was just painted with
black and red paint I also added some changes while during my mask because
some pop-up stickers. as I was making it I thought of many
changes to make it look even better

The elements of art that the culture I

researched that inspired me was the soft
texture. That is why I used the feathers
because it makes it beautiful and and it
makes it seem soft. Another element of
art that inspired me was the line of one
of the venetian mask that I saw. It was a
line going around the eye, that inspired
me to do the drawing around the eyes of
mask.

Overall I think I was good, in my

mask-making because I put many effort
on making my maks even though it
doesn't look perfect. I made so many
