Chaminade University
May 2017
Fellow Educators,
During the 2017 spring semester I had the pleasure of observing Tiara Ilae teaching
second grade students at Hickam Elementary School. There she completed requirements
for her student teaching internship at Chaminade University.
Tiara showed tremendous growth in developing and implementing her lessons because of
effective planning and organization, She met the needs of her students and continually
assessed them for understanding, an asset that ensured quality work and products
Another asset observed in the classroom was her patience and efforts to ensure the lower
level students met objectives through various teaching strategies. She became
knowledgeable of curriculum design and frequent use of benchmarks, GLO's and core
standards
During our meetings Tiara was pleasant and open to suggestions to enhance her teaching.
Moreover she demonstrated a positive, caring attitude toward her students and established
an excellent rapport with them, as well as with her cooperating teacher. She maintained
complete control of the classroom and handled inappropriate behaviors with firmness and
respect.
I recommend Tiara as an elementary teacher, grades kindergarten through grade six
knowing that she would be an asset to any school faculty because of her positive role
model to her students, her systematic, organized approach toward teaching, and her calm
and pleasant personality in the classroom.
Sincerely,
Cynthia I. Maeshiro
