Teacher P. Sakthivel, Design Division, SMBS

Topic: Orthographic Projection of Planes

1. A square lamina ABCD of 40 mm side rest on the corner C such that the diagonal
AC is inclined at 30 to the VP. The two sides BC and CD containing the corner C
make equal angles with the ground and the surface of the lamina is inclined at 45
to the ground. Draw front and top views of the lamina.

2. A thin composite plate consists of a square ABCD of 50mm sides with an

additional semicircle constructed on CD as diameter. The side AB is in the VP
and makes 30 with the HP and the surface of the plate makes 45 with the VP.
Draw its projections.

3. A regular pentagon of 50 mm sides is resting on one of its sides on the HP such

that it is parallel to and 25 mm in front of the VP. If the highest corner of the
pentagon rest in the VP, Draw its projections and find the angle made by the plane
with the HP and VP

4. Draw the projections of hexagonal plate of side 40 mm which is having circular

hole at its centre of diameter 50 mm. Plate is placed in HP at its corner and hole
appears as an ellipse of minor diameter equal to 40 mm. in the TV. Diagonal
passing through the point in HP makes an angle of 40 with VP.
