Assignment #1

iTunes U is part of the iTunes Store which is a tool that distributes educational

video and audio materials made by universities and institutes. It is a free, convenient, and

accessible tool wherein educational organizations can connect with students and lifelong

learners. Swinburne University of Technology was first to put up its own iTunes U

website. Swinburne let students create the content for the courses offered in the iTunes U

website. With the iTunes U project being the client, the students were expected to provide

good quality works.

The article argues that through the implementation of iTunes U in universities,

students were able to showcase their talent and work beyond what the universities offer.

Students were given the task to produce educational video and audio materials to be

incorporated in the iTunes U website, with the iTunes U coordinators being their client.

Student and client interaction was a crucial part of the project. Students with courses

from the creative field were involved in the project to produce the content for the

podcasts but it can also provide opportunities to students from the field of language and

engineering/mathematics.

In conclusion, the iTunes U project can only bring out the potential of students

from the multimedia or creative field. It only gives a little to offer to students in other

fields for it requires skills that involves filming and recording that not all students

acquire.
