Dear Dr. Bruce :

I am writing to inform you of my accomplishments of the student learning objectives

(SLOs) set forth at the beginning of the semester. Through multiple assignments,
variation of applications, group work and multiple texts I have advanced my writing
skills in order to make me more effective in communication both while in school and
in the professional field. I am presenting you with a portfolio that will give examples
of my accomplishments.

First you will find my annotated bibliography on stem cell research. Through writing
this piece, receiving peer feedback and editing I have been able to excel in multiple
areas of our SLOs. It allowed me to present a persuasive argument toward an
appropriate audience on why stem cell research is needed and why embryos do not
have human rights. I was able to effectively organize my paper through ethical
research and academic language and design by modeling my paper after an editorial
in the LA Times.

Next, I have enclosed my responses to student editorials. Through collaboration we

are able to achieve great things. I gave feedback to help ensure students kept their
editorials organized and focused as well as using proper rhetoric.

I believe you will agree that these assignments show my accomplishments in our
student learning objectives. I am confident I will be able to properly use these tools
in the future for my success in school and my profession. Thank you in advance for
