Sniper

Sometimes life can be hard, sometimes it can be easy. In this short story, The Sniper, by Liam

Flaherty ,a soilder is facing a life or death situation after being injured in his arm. He is fighting in

a very dark place and can hardly see his enemies. Suddenly a woman comes up to one of his

enemies and points straight at him, so as soon as the sniper had his chance he fired at the

woman and killed her. Now that his enemy knows he is there he places his cap on the muzzle of

his own weapon so his enemy can think that he had killed him. When the sniper finally gets his

chance at firing he shoots him and little did he know, when he got down to look, it was his

brother. The Theme of this story is There are no winners in war War is a despicable and

insidious thing when it comes life or death.
