Character Monologue
I never really expect getting special treatment. If anything I ask to be treated
normally, being the presidents daughter and all. But this one time, THIS ONE
TIME, I wanted to cash in my special privilege, because my parents had done
the one thing that terrified me the most. They had arranged a marriage for
me. I was beyond shocked when I found out, especially since I had stressed
the idea to them, that I wanted to figure out my own life and choose my own
path, before merging it with someone elses. I am 15, meaning Im nowhere
near figuring out my life, so I planned to fight this with everything I had. I
know it would look wrong to our country, if the leaders daughter was of age
and was not getting married; we were in the public eye if we dont follow
rules and traditions, whos to say the people wont start doing the same? I
knew I had to have a hell of a compelling argument to get out of this, but I
have to try. Its my life and I will not let anyone have the power to decide
that for me.
