How I Grew As a Critical Thinker

Critical thinking is the evaluation or analysis of a problem in order to form a solution or

make judgment. AP English Language and Composition is an activity that I have partaken in to

actively develop critical thinking. AP English Language and Composition require critical

thinking due to the fact that it is testing ones self to all aspects. Critical thinking is an activity

which forces you to develop your ideas, understand the purpose of why things are done, and

consider different aspects of situations that are at hand. I have learned that critical thinking is a

very important aspect in all major education activities, and in some cases even recreational

activities. While some have taken critical thinking for granted, I believe that I have utilized and

actively used critical thinking in various, if not all, aspects in my life. Analyzing a problem,

communicating with one another and evaluating conundrums are some of the many different

ways to continue develop or apply some of these critical thinking skills. By doing the following,

you are allowing yourself to think critically and will eventually benefit you in the future. There

are some ways a learning environment or a teacher can help to develop critical thinking for you

or in general. Having to think critically about the material in all of your classes is a way to

develop critical thinking due to the fact that you have to make connections between facts and

evaluate information critically. In general, it is easy for people to get caught in pointless

arguments just because they didnt critically think.
