I have known Alyssa for the past year and a half and have come to appreciate a number of her qualities. Alyssa was a student in my Advanced Placement English Language and Composition class. This course is incredibly challenging and the rigor is elevated from a normal high school course. Alyssa succeeded in the course through hard work and an attention to detail that was nothing short of impressive. While in my class, Alyssa demonstrated a number of things that lead me to believe she will be successful in any future endeavors she elects to pursue. I observed Alyssa to be a very passionate young woman. She is strong in her convictions and is not afraid to share them with other people. If Alyssa disagreed with something, she politely spoke up and inquired as to wy things were the way they were, This was an especially helpful characteristic in class room discussion. She was able to create dialogue and work with individuals in a manner that promoted community and partnership in learning. Through classroom discussion and the various writing assignments that were completed in my class, I can definitely say that Alyssa is one of the most intellectually advanced students I have had the privilege of teaching. It is rare to find a student in high school that has such a meticulously developed world view. It is evident that Alyssa will ‘make an impact wherever she finds herself in the coming years. Through the aforementioned qualities, Alyssa demonstrated great leadership potential. She has the ability to ereate positive and meaningful discourse through her questioning and insight. Its rare to find a young adult that takes what their peers view into account and thoughtfully refutes them; Alyssa has the ability to inquire in a manner that is neither divisive nor offensive. This allowed for a community to be built in my classroom. I also was impressed with Alyssa's punctuality, She was always concerned with being on time and allowing herself the ability to be successful through her punctuality. I believe that Alyssa will be successful in whatever she chooses to pursue after her high school ‘education is complete, She has the ability to adapt and excel in any situation she may find herself in. In the world of higher education, itis paramount that a student be able to roll with the punches and be flexible as the environment isa very independent one. Alyssa isa very independent, introspective person. She has the ability to function ina rigorous course and this will serve her well.
