Lil boat: Rainey, Zeke, Calvin, Gabby

What makes a great school design? If all schools are similar from the school
layout to the classrooms how will we make our school different from all others? Our
objective was to answer these questions and to fill the needs of the students and how we
can make our school unique and different from other schools.

Our group consists of Ezekial Swilley, Rainey Ewing, Calvin Chase, and Gabrielle
Anderson. Lil Boats design provides a unique quality that gets the students in an
environment that is interactive and comfortable in order to connect with other upper or
lower classmen and to be comfortable in a place where they can get their work done. In
the beginning of this project we conducted interviews of some students here at Animas
and ask for their specific needs and values that they would like to see in a new school.
Throughout the whole empathy, ideation and prototyping process we began to evolve
and build off from our prototypes to make the final blueprints. The model of the
Commons was where we discussed and were able to communicate with the feedback
that we received from the community. We believe that our design provides a
comfortable space that allows students to interact with other students and faculty. Our
school is based on multi-grade level collaboration and we can implement this by
designing a space where it is influenced and includes. Our design is different from
others because our classrooms are located where we have to be around the other grade
levels and interact with them. Also allowing the students to interact with the building by
influencing them to create murals. Our objective is to expand our ideas to create an
environment that meets the individual needs of the students and evolve from their
feedback.
