Physical Characteristics:
Ishana has always been blessed with good looks. Her soft, innocent-looking
face can often betray her mischievous nature. She has large dark green eyes. Her
hair color was originally a dark blonde but ever since her childhood, she has taken
to dyeing it different colors. Her favorite colors usually swapping between pink and
bright orange. Being acrobatic by nature, as well as for her job, Ishana has a slender
but powerful body shape. Her bust and waistline are slim but the muscles
underneath are very strong. This extends to her lower body, including her long legs.
Ishana is not ashamed of her good looks and is not opposed to occasionally using
them to her advantage.
One defining feature is Ishanas arms, because of her chosen weapon
(armored gauntlets) Ishana has had to develop very large arms. She is slightly self-
conscious about this and often wears large jackets or cloaks to hide them when she
can. Ishanas skin is quite pale as she grew up with very little sunlight exposure and
is mostly a night owl in her adulthood. Given the longer Humoti life span, Ishana is
still considered very young, her smooth skin reflects this.
Ishana has a booming voice that hardly reflects her smaller overall frame. Her
yelling can be heard over loud crowds and music. Her laugh is very distinctive, she
never simply chuckles or giggles. Her laugh is always full and boisterous, the kind of
laugh that catches people off guard at first.
Personality:
Ishana was originally very shy as a young girl. This stemmed from being
orphaned at a young age and being raised by the rowdy gang of kids and teenagers
that would eventually care for her. She grew out of her shyness quite quickly, soon
fighting to be the most noticed person in any room she occupied. As she grew older,
this urge was tempered slightly, but she still loves to be the center of attention.
Despite being a thief, Ishana often has good intentions surrounding her
actions. As she became more experienced in thievery, she realized that she had
more than she knew what to do with at times. Deciding it would be the perfect
opportunity to be everyones favorite person, Ishana began smuggling for and
protecting the lower echelons of her home planet. While originally a selfish notion
(and still is slightly at present), Ishana decided she enjoyed helping the ones who
couldnt help themselves and made it her mission to protect the lower class while
having as much fun as she could doing it.
Fun is an extremely important motivator for Ishana, while she does value her
life she has often put it in danger for some extra fun. Despite having the ability to
con her way into the upper class of Selvenita, she passed on the opportunity. Living
it up in the slums was more fun for her. She is very well-versed in combat and she
take great pleasure in every fight shes in.
Major flaws include her need for attention, her inability to take certain issues
seriously, and a fairly materialistic nature. Ishana steals and hordes many things
simply because she likes having things, a small hang-up from her days as an orphan
when she rarely had anything of her own. She also has a hard time believing that
anyone would do something kind without a secondary motivation, many of her
interactions as a young girl included liars that tried to take advantage of her.
Background:
Ishana never knew her parents. They were very poor and didnt want her
when she was born as she was not planned at all. Though they kept her for a year or
two they quickly realized they wanted nothing to do with her. They dropped her off
at an orphanage that took care of her for a little while before it could no longer
sustain itself. Some of the older kids that were in the orphanage took the younger
children to the place on Selvenita where all lost things eventually go, they took
Ishana to The Fissure.
The Fissure is exactly what it sounds like. Its simply a massive canyon, very
close to Selvenitas equatorial line, that was the result of a massive earthquake long
before recorded history. The Humoti that could not afford to live in the more lavish
cities of Selvenita, as well as the ones who didnt want to be a part of the dangerous
Undercities, migrated away from these places. They eventually found The Fissure
and, quite literally, carved a city out of it. The canyons walls are lined with caves
and caverns that were carved out as more people came and needed places to stay.
Despite the original reason it was created, The Fissure has its own seedy
underbelly. Ishana was swept up by one of the gangs that vied for control of The
Fissure when the older orphans had joined in order to have some semblance of
shelter. Even when she was very young she was taught how to con people out of
their money, how to be silent, how to look dangerous, how to not be noticed if you
didnt want to be, and she was also taught how to fight.
Ishana was a natural fighter, she grasped difficult concepts very quickly and
was a very dangerous fighter by the time she was twelve years old. As important as
it was for Ishana to know how to defend herself, she is fervently against taking the
lives of others herself. A street brawl with another gang had shown her a different
side of violence, one that cast a dark shadow on the people she called her closest
friends. She realized very early on that the people in the other gangs werent all
that different from her own, and the sight of her friends murdering others simply
because they werent a part of the same gang terrified her. Because of this, she has
never trained with an outright deadly weapon.
As she aged through her teenage years, she quickly became an invaluable
part of her gang, sticking more to the rush she felt from stealing and raiding rather
than getting involved in the violent conflicts with other gangs. By the time she was
seventeen, she longed for more. More excitement, more adventure, more stealing. It
didnt help that she couldnt take the sights of The Fissure any longer. She didnt
want to see another starving child, another rival gang member slowly bleeding out,
or another persons home set ablaze.
The Fissure no longer felt like home, she wasnt sure if it ever really had. She
knew there was more out there to see and she wanted to see everything. One night,
without telling any of her friends (who had changed far too much for her liking),
Ishana left The Fissure forever. The trek to the nearest city would take many days
and would attempt to kill Ishana many times, but she made it.
Sorinda, the largest city on Selvenita. Not the technical capital of Selvenita,
but certainly one of the greatest champions of its culture. The city was built on
multiple levels, the aristocracy of the Humoti at the top, while the less fortunate
took the Undercities below. The blatant symbolism was not lost on Ishana, but she
was far more focused on the wonderful challenge it seemed to possess. Rich nobles
that rarely ever worried about anything? Ishana had found her place.
After a few failures trying to steal from the heavily guarded upper class,
Ishana decided she needed some more experience. The places she stole from in The
Fissure rarely held any resistance, Sorinda was very different. She began to hit
houses in the middle rings of the city that were less well guarded, these houses
were mostly middle class workers and traders. On one of her first scores, she was
found out by a girl the same age as her. Her name was Desda Robeian, the
daughter of the representative for that middle ring of people on Sorindas city
council.
Desda was fascinated by Ishana from the second she had found her. Desda
promised not to turn Ishana in if she told her stories of what growing up was like for
her. This sparked a deep friendship that would last for many, many years. Desda
was uninterested in the politics that her father and mother were involved in, despite
having to be dragged to all of Sorindas events and social gatherings. She and
Ishana would often find ways to liven up these rather dull parties. Desda would
help sneak Ishana in, and the two would work their magic. The two became so close
that as they got older, Desda began bringing Ishana to parties through the front
door. She explained to the other nobles that Ishana was a long lost half-sister that
had appeared out of the blue one day. Eventually, Ishana decided she liked having a
last name and unofficially adopted the name for herself. The inside look at the
homes of nobles allowed Ishana to understand the security and layouts, leading to
more lucrative heists for herself.
Ishana would travel all over Selvenita as the years went on, even venturing to
other planets as the opportunities arose. Sorinda eventually became her home
though. She quickly became well known in the Undercities, enough to garner
attention from the families that ran them. Ishana, never one to be intimidated,
fought back. She would amass quite a large following across all of Selvenita for her
deeds, some joined because she was kind of enough to share the wealth and
protection, some joined because they wanted to be with the best of the best.
Today, Ishana walks the line between what is morally right and what is legally
right. She can con almost anybody, yet often uses the wealth to help others (once
she gets her cut, of course). Essentially, shes still the fun-loving, thrill-seeking girl
she grew up as. Even if shes picked up a cause or two as shes gotten older.
