Christian Spiritual
Christian spirituality has been defined in several ways. However, Christian spirituality
basically is defined as a set of values, way of life and beliefs that reflect the true teachings of the
holy Bible, which is the holy book of Christianity. It can also be defined as the process of
spiritual formation of a disciple of Jesus Christ that leads to a genuine and satisfied Christian life
in the present world setting. It involves experiencing the presence, love and grace of God in our
daily lives.
The Bible teaches several things on Christian Spirituality. To begin with, the Bible
defines Christian Spirituality as the practice and beliefs of the Christian faith, which involves
action and knowledge. It is concerned with the complete human life as opposed to spiritual
exercises and prayer alone. The lived experience encompasses the body mind and soul.
Secondly, grace sustains Christians in the journey of faith. God initiates a personal
relationship through Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit. Grace hence refers to God
communicating to us in the Spirit, inviting us to a relationship with him, forgiving us, and freely
loving us. Grace is, therefore, an integral part of Christianity. Third, Christian spirituality is
concerned with the relationship between our life and that of God. It does not separate the

power of the spirit of God receives Godly qualities and brings glory and honor to God.
Therefore, Christian spirituality focuses on the human spirit and the lives of believers as a
