Virologists study viruses that affect humans, animals, insects, bacteria, fungi, and

Virologists can work in offices and laboratories, and few may take jobs in
the field.
3. Veterinarian
Veterinarians diagnose, prevent, and treat animal illnesses and diseases.
They administer tests, observe conditions in animals, perform surgery, and prescribe

private clinics or animal hospitals.

4. Epidemiologist (people who work for CDC)

Epidemiologist collect and analyze data, sometimes through interviews, to find
the causes of diseases or other health problems. A character from The Hot Zone

Epidemiologist can also work in hospitals or medical research facilities.
5. Microscopist
Microscopist investigate the growth, structure, development, and other
characteristics of microscopic organisms. A character from The Hot Zone that is
a Microscopist is Thomas Geisbert, who also worked at USAMRIID. Microscopist
can also work in labs and hospitals.
