Assumptions:
Top width of drop wall= 0.4 m As per Water Management Manual,MOWR

Alloable compressive stress= 0.5 N/mm

Angle of internal friction F= 30
cutoff width= 0.4 m

2 Determination of waterway and crest level
From Empirical Formula as suggested in the Water Management Manual:
X=D+0.82 D ^ * H ^
Where X= depth of cushion(Cistern) below d/s FSL
D= U/S FSD
H=Fall height
Hence X = 0.300 + 0.82 ( 0.30 )^ x 0.450 ^
= 0.66838 m Adopt X= 0.70 m
Z=X+H-D
Where Z= depth of cushion(Cistern) below u/s FSL
Hence Z = 0.70 + 0.45 - 0.30
= 0.85 m Adopt Z= 0.85 m
Y=4/3(ZD)^
Where Y= Length of cushion(Cistern)
Hence Y = 1.333 X ( 0.85 X 0.30 ) ^ 0.50
= 0.67313 m Adopt Y= 0.70 m (Cistern Length)
Cistern Level=
(i)d/s FSL-X= 52.74 - 0.7 = 52.04 m
