THE GODDESS OF RICE ‘The Balinese even have their own Rice Goddess; Dewi Sri, who is honoured through shrines in all the island's rice fields and terraces. The Balinese believe that the Goddess lives in every grain of rice and that the rice plant has to be treated accordingly.
