The field of Science that most appeals to me is biophysics, so my career choice
in science would have to be a biophysicist. This field combines biology, the study of life and physics, the science that deals with matter, energy, motion, and force. A biophysicist is a scientist who looks for the mathematical laws of nature and makes detailed predictions about the forces that make up nature. This field spans the distance between physical laws and complex life, looking for patterns in life and analyzing them with math and physics. Biophysicists study life at every level, from atoms and molecules to cells, organisms, and environments. As new inventions come out of physics and biology labs, biophysicists find new areas to explore where they can apply their knowledge, create new tools, and learn new things. The work always aims to find out how biological systems work. Biophysicists have achieved breakthroughs such as figuring out how protein machines in cells work and finding out how nerve cells communicate in the human body. Biophysicists invented colored protein tags for the chemicals used by cells. Each cell takes on a different color as it uses the tagged chemicals, making it possible to trace its many pathways through the body. They have also answered questions such as, how do proteins pack DNA into viruses? How do viruses invade cells? How do plants harness sunlight to make food? In this field I hope to make breakthroughs that can benefit all living things on the planet. I want to figure out how to make sustainable and reliable biofuels, how to clone previously extinct animals, and I want to figure out how life on Earth started billions of years ago. I think this field of science is the most interesting to me, will fill me with a sense of accomplishment, and will help me answer these questions that I am very curious to know the answers to. In conclusion, biophysicists study how biological systems work in relation to mathematical and physical laws. They have achieved breakthroughs in science by answering many important questions that others could not find the answers to. Finally, biophysics is the most interesting and fulfilling field of science for me to pursue as a career choice.
