Plot
The story starts with a murder story from Ohio.
He describes the murderer and what kind of person he is along with how he conducted the
murder
The murderer was declared insane and was set free
Declared insane only during the time that the murder was done
Same deal for another murder case in Pennsylvania.
3rd murder case ended in justice and he was hung.
Ends with this murder case to break the pattern of insanity in murder case
Story ends with him saying how if you're rich or of high social status then you
can get away with murder and that he wants not only laws against crime but
insanity also.

Told from an omniscient narrators POV

Baldwin- murderer from Ohio who got away with it because he was declared insane

Lynch Hackett- Murderer from Pennsylvania who also got away with it because he
was declared insane

Bridget Durgin- Murderer from New Jersey who slaughtered another girl and was
hung because of her crime, not declared insane

Kid from Pennsylvania hung after stalking and killing a girl, not declared insane

Crimes happened in the northeast of the United States

Ohio, Pennsylvania and New Jersey

To get the point that just because somebody is insane, it shouldnt excuse him for his crimes
