PRESS RELEASE (FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE)
Re, — INTERPOL REMOVES ALERT AGAINST MS NANDANEE SOORNACK
Raj Law Solicitors wrote to the Central Criminal Investigation Division (CCID) in Port Louis
(Mauritius) and to the CCF in Lyon (France) in April 2017, calling on both organisations to
remove the red notice which has led to Ms Soornack’s arrest and detention.
On 17 May 2017, Raj Law Solicitors received confirmation from the Commission for the
Control of INTERPOL’s Files (CCF) that the global “wanted person” alert (also known as “red
notice”) against Ms Nandanee Soornack, has been deleted from INTERPOU's files at the
request of the National Central Bureau of Mauritius.
Ms Soornack has been the subject of an INTERPOL alert since April 2015 based on the CCID’s
allegations that Ms Soornack committed various crimes in Mauritius.
The Italian Supreme Court (Corte di Cassazione) on 03 February 2017 declared the total
inadmissibility of the appeal lodged by the Mauritius Government against the decision of
the Court of Appeal of Bologna pronounced in September 2016 to refuse extradition of Ms
Soornack to Mauritius from Italy.
Following the Italian judiciaries, on 07 April 2017, the District Court of Port Louis became the
third independent judicial authority to conclude that CCID’s allegations were of no
underlying substance and struck out all the arrest warrants issued against Ms Nandanee
Soornack.
Naturally, Ms Soornack is indeed very pleased with another positive development in this
matter. She has continuously maintained that the fabricated allegations were politically
motivated. Ms Soornack stands vindicated by the Italian and Mauritian judiciaries.
