I am in the process of doing a preliminary sizing (Select Phase) of a liquid skimmer

for a produced water system. While looking for some guidance on the WKS, I found
an article written by yourself in 1985 (before I was born btw) on titled Designing oil
and gas production systems - How to size and select produced-water treating
equipment.

First of all, its a really good reference and it cleared up most of my concerns
regarding selecting the orientation and some explanations on the other
technologies.

Basically my question is a follow up to article (since its a pretty old reference ...no
pun intended)

1) Has there been any update/new methodology developed for the sizing of the
horizontal skimmers?

2) On another WKS site, someone mentioned a preliminary size of a liquid-liquid

separator (skimmer) can be achieved by using the existing 3-phase sizing
spreadsheet and putting a very small gas flow. WHat are your thoughts on this?
