Brian J. Masterson was a retired

New York firefighter. Masterson was
one of the first firefighters on the
scene when two planes slammed into
the Twin Towers. The Longford man
was one of the brave New York City
Fire Department (FDNY) firefighters
who worked tirelessly at the scene of
the attack in 2001, where thousands
of innocent people lost their lives.
And tributes have poured in from friends, family and
colleagues for the 61-year-old hero. He was the 124th first
responder to die from a 9/11 disease. His cause of death was
due to a two-year battle of esophageal cancer. Brian J.
Masterson was a father of three and was an active marathon
runner. Masterson had retired from the FDNY Marine
Company 9 and worked for Ladder 45 for nearly 20 years. He
was a member of Most Precious Blood Church in Walden.
Brian was an avid golfer and loved to run. He ran in the NYC
Marathon multiple times and many other races throughout
the Hudson Valley. Family always came first for Brian and his
children were his world. Family always came first for the late
Brian J Masterson and his children and grandchild were his
world. He continued the loving tradition of his father, and
passed that on, to not only his family, but to all that ever knew
him. Brians legacy will live on forever, and will always be an
excellent example of true heroism for our country.
