Graduation Project Garinger High School

Dear Judges:

My name is Luz Rico Sanchez and I have just completed the Senior Year portion of my
Graduation Project. Throughout the past two years, I have learned about the causes and effects of
deforestation and developed my own idea for preventing this problem in my school. In addition
to learning more about my topic, I learned more about myself. I learned that I am able to rise to
the challenge of difficult assignments and meet important deadlines.
I have attended Garinger High School for four years. When I entered high school, as an
immature freshman, I quickly realized that just getting by wasnt good enough and that I
needed to work harder in order to be successful. To me, it has never been good enough to just do
well, I want to always do great. As I progress through my senior year, I am coming to understand
just how true that is. Colleges are looking for students who stand out, and I have worked hard to
stand out at .
In order to prevent more trees from being cut down , I could look into finding alternatives.
Based on my research, I found that 3.5-7 billion trees are being cut down every year. That in my
school an average teacher uses 24,000 sheets of paper each.. Through my research, I learned
different preventative methods for reducing the amount of paper used, and I have presented my
plan to Garinger High School for consideration as part of the required for the whole school. The
Dean of Students responded very positively to my ideas.
The Graduation Project has had a major effect on my life because it has forced me to plan ahead,
become organized and work towards deadlines. I think that this will help me be more successful
for the rest of my life.
Thank you very much for taking the time to view my presentation, product and portfolio. I hope
that you now understand the importance of acting on the dangers of college suicide.
Sincerely,
Luz Rico Sanchez
