Letsstartoffthissectionwithadiscussionofjustwhatasequenceis.Asequenceisnothingmorethana
listofnumberswritteninaspecificorder.Thelistmayormaynothaveaninfinitenumberoftermsinthem
althoughwewillbedealingexclusivelywithinfinitesequencesinthisclass.Generalsequencetermsare
denotedasfollows,


Becausewewillbedealingwithinfinitesequenceseachterminthesequencewillbefollowedbyanother
termasnotedabove.Inthenotationaboveweneedtobeverycarefulwiththesubscripts.Thesubscriptof
denotesthenextterminthesequenceandNOToneplusthenthterm!Inotherwords,

sobeverycarefulwhenwritingsubscriptstomakesurethatthe+1doesntmigrateoutofthesubscript!
Thisisaneasymistaketomakewhenyoufirststartdealingwiththiskindofthing.
