Intheprevioussectionweintroducedtheconceptofasequenceandtalkedaboutlimitsofsequencesandthe
ideaofconvergenceanddivergenceforasequence.Inthissectionwewanttotakeaquicklookatsome
ideasinvolvingsequences.

Letsstartoffwithsometerminologyanddefinitions.

Givenanysequence wehavethefollowing.
1.Wecallthesequenceincreasingif foreveryn.

2.Wecallthesequencedecreasingif foreveryn.

3.If isanincreasingsequenceor isadecreasingsequence
wecallitmonotonic.

4.Ifthereexistsanumbermsuchthat foreverynwesaythe
sequenceisboundedbelow.Thenumbermissometimescalled
alowerboundforthesequence.

5.IfthereexistsanumberMsuchthat foreverynwesay
thesequenceisboundedabove.ThenumberMissometimes
calledanupperboundforthesequence.

6.Ifthesequenceisbothboundedbelowandboundedabovewe
callthesequencebounded.
