Gene Santoro
Summary
This was an interview where Gene talked about what it was like leading men
into war and making sure he was being safe. He explains the risks he took so
that his men could be safe, and how would do anything to make sure they
would get back. Sometimes he didn't follow the manual for the reason of
keeping his men safe and putting himself in danger. He also talks about how he
was given a Purple Heart and how he got evacuated.

We had to know what the Germans were up to, so Rivers and I- the only two
officers-went to take a look. Not what the manual said to do.

I think this man is more selfless than I could probably ever be and I am really glad
I got to read a short interview of his. I didn't know anything about the battles that
took place and this interview touched on how the battles were, and how they
decided what to do in the moment. In my opinion Gene and all the other officers
were very strong and super brave because I would never be able to do anything
like they have done.
