Focus
As the academic year draws to a close, it proves essential to reflect upon skills gained

throughout the year; I have assessed that I have greatly improved my ability to focus and

maintain motivation even in times of great distraction. As an assignment throughout the year,

students were instructed to research and write about a recent March for Science in Washington

D.C. (See below). During this assignment, I struggled greatly to maintain focus and motivate

myself to complete the assignment. In the class period in which the assignment was completed,

most students were not acting respectably and were not completing their work. In the midst of

such chaos and anarchy, I motivated myself to complete the assignment well and timely. As

motivation, I often considered how completing an assignment in-class freed up my evening to do

activities I greatly enjoy. This notion in addition to my will to succeed and perform well in

school served as a great motivation and stimulant for focus. Staying focused is an essential part

of becoming a strong student; by finding inspiration and motivation in all times, one becomes a

stronger and more responsible adult in the real world. I don't care too much what happened in

the past. I prefer to focus on what is coming next and I am really looking forward to it

(Sebastian Vettel). By focusing on the important aspects of life, including academic work, family,

and religion, one becomes a wiser and more benevolent person. Thus, by simply focusing on a

Physics writing assignment, I improved my ability to focus, allowing me to perform well in the

future. In sum, I have overcome my capability to become distracted by motivating myself to

focus and complete work even in times of great complacency.
