Use the cartoon to answer a,b, and c.

a) Briefly identify the main point expressed by the artist of the political cartoon.

In this political cartoon, President Calvin Coolidge is playing music for a flapper, or Big

Business to dance to. The instrument Coolidge is playing is also labeled Praise which

indicates his close relationship, involvement, and support of Big Businesses.

b) Briefly explain ONE policy example from the 1920s that supports that point of view.

President Coolidge took a laissez faire approach to Big Businesses and provided them

with what they needed to thrive in the economy. The author demonstrates this in the

image. As Coolidge plays the instrument or praises big businesses, the flapper

responds and dances for him - which suggests that the president should focus on his

presidential responsibilities and leave the economy alone.

c) Briefly explain ONE impact of the policy you described in Part B.

Due to President Coolidges approach with laissez faire, tax reductions caused huge drops

in tax payers money that made over $1 million.
