Free elective courses at UNSW are courses which do not contribute towards your

core courses or major courses.

A make-up quiz can be arranged for students who missed a quiz due to religious
holidays, illness or other extraordinary circumstances. Students must provide
proofs legitimizing the reason for missing a quiz. Free elective courses can allow
you to choose courses outside of your major to broaden your knowledge to help
with your career ambitions.
Please check the level one courses rule for your program when selecting free
electives.
A major is an approved sequence of 48 UOC (8 courses) courses in a particular
area within a program. Majors require students to take an approved set of
courses at difference levels and units of credit.
The term is generally synonymous with plan or specialisation. More than one
major may be completed in a program.
Students are permitted to change their major/plan/stream (usually at the start of
the academic term) by login on to myUNSW My Student Profile Stream
Declaration.
Depending on your degree program requirements (refer to the Handbook and
program diagrams to find out what these requirements are) these courses may
be selected from within or outside the Business School.
