Sub: Proposed construction of ROB in lieu of LC No.364 at Rly Km 581/6-8

between Pulla and Chebrolu stations-Reg.

Ref: Your office letter No.W.352/B/160/LC No.364 dt:24-01-2017.

In reference to letter cited above, the following clarifications are furnished.

The reasons for proposing composite girder in lieu of Bowstring girder as under :

1) Girder assembling is to be done on crib staging on approach of ROB and

necessitates longer period of speed restrictions & traffic blocks for launching and
erection on busy electrified section of BZA to VSKP.
2) Highly technical expertise is required for the above activity.
3) The very purpose of avoiding longer speed restrictions and more traffic blocks is
lost.
4) Incidentally, it is also brought out that CBE, vide his letter(F-42), had also advised
to go for composite steel girder considering the above issues for the spans up to
50mts and also stated that usage of bowstring girder shall be resorted to for
spans ranging from 50m to 60m.
5) Further, as desired the approval of CAO/C is obtained for the above change in
superstructure and a copy of the note approved is enclosed for reference please.

In view of the above, it is kindly requested to accord the approval for the
modified GAD with composite girder.
