Writing Reflection

Throughout this semester I have written four writing samples. An objective summary, a theme

response, an issue research paper, and a narrative essay. Having these outside writing samples was

somewhat of a challenge because I had to manage my time in whatever way I wanted to complete all of

them by the end of the semester. For the most part I did not procrastinate and I completed and turned all

of them in on time, and I consider this an accomplishment for myself. The only writing sample that I

procrastinated on was the reflection because I became very busy during the end of the school year and

found it difficult to make time for any extra assignments. I feel that the narrative was the most difficult for

me to write because it was such an open assignment that I could take anywhere and that was difficult for

me to focus my thoughts and figure out what I wanted to write about. The issue research was interesting

to me because I did it on the topic of bullying, which was also the focus of the final project, and I found out

some really insightful facts and information while researching. The theme response and objective

summary were the easiest for me to write because they were both short and simple. I also found that

shorter assignments are fairly easier for me to stay focused and not procrastinate on. In the past, writing

essays has always seemed like such an enormous task to me, and I would constantly put them off, but

because of all the writing in this class, and these outside writing samples, I feel that I have grown as a

student and now have an easier time completing assignments. This skill will help me in college and for

the rest of my life.
