Procedures in Detall
4. Standard Colour Table: T¢_BW.TBL
‘Set up the drawing with the correct colour table by selecting
Settings > Color Table > Fle > Open...» and access above table from.
C:\Program Files\Bentley2004\Workspace\Standardsldata. Attach table
2, Standard HV-Design Text Styles Library: _HV-textstyles.dgnlib
First delete the default libraries. Attach new library from: Element > Teat Styles
> Style > Import > (Cancel Projectwise dialog box) > then select above library
from C:\Program F les\Bertley2004Workspace\Standarcs\dgniib,
When using the “Pace Text’ command, select the required Style (eg. 3STEXT)
then select the Jusification (eg. Center Center).
3, Standard HV-Design Dimension Styles Library: HV-Dimetyles.dgnlib
First delete unwanted default Ibrary "A1-A3 Dim_1"
Attach from: File > Import > (Cancel Projectwise dialog box) > then select above
library from C:\Program Fles\Bentley2004\Workspace\Standards\dgnib
4, Standard Level Library: HV-Front Sheot.dgnli>
Intialy attach a Level Library for your drawing frame sheet by selecting the
“Level Manager’ tcl from the Primary Toolbar.
Select: Levels > Lisrary > Attach > (Cancel Projeciwise dialog bor) > then select
above library from C:\Program Files\Bentiey2004WorkspacelStandards\dani
Note: you will require more Level Libraries after these intial procedures,
5. Correct Locks:
Initially @ drawing does not require any locks and the Association Lock which is.
‘st ‘on’ as a default should be un-selacted.
Select: Settings > Locks > and unsick "Association"
Note: the Association Lock allows dimensions to change automatically wien @
drawing is modified, but is not compatible with HV Design's use of Referenced
Electrical Masters.

Correct View Attributes:
Select: Seltings > View Attributes > tick boxes for’
land un-ick box for ‘Data Fields’. Apply settings,
‘The View Attributes box can also be selected by the keys “Ctrl ~B.
‘Note: Level Symbology should always be ‘on’ so that attached References such
‘a8 Masterfiles and Model Space fles appear with correct Colours and Weights.
7. Correct Level Symbology:
If setting Level Symbology “on” in Procedure 6 causes the drawing image to
‘appear grey and wih incorrect ine thicknesses, then associated Levels and
References will require adjustments of Level Symbology.
‘Select the "Level Manager’ tool from the Primary Toolbar
Expand the Drawing File Structure and star by selecting the "V8_BDR.DGN"
Inthe righthand box highlight all ts associated levels, select: Levels >
Properties > Symbology Overrides: change Color Overtide to "OFF, Style
(Override to "OFF" and Weight Override to “OFF”. Apply the new settings.
Note: ifa star precedes a Level Name then that Level is used in more than one
Drawing File. The Cverrdes will need to be corrected within each File.
Ifa levelis required to appear grey, its Override Colour should be set to "250",
8, Save Settings:
‘Once the procedures 1 to 7 have been implemented, set an appropriate Active
Level, use Fit View ‘or best image of the drawing frame, then save all settings
Using: File > Save Settings.
‘and "Level Symbology"

4, Standard HV-Desiga Linestyle Plot Pen Table:
When printing same size as drawing, use: DEFAULT.TBL
When printing A1 or A2 drawings toA3, use: -HV-AtoA3.TBL
When printing AO or 1 drawings to A3, use: _-HV-AdtoA3.TBL
When printing A2 oF AS drawings toA4, use: -HV-A‘toA3.TBL
‘To change the Pen Table in the Print dlalog box, select: Pen Table > Attach >
(Cancel Projectwise dialog box) > then select table from C:\Program Files\
Bentley2004\Weorkssace\Standards\tables\Pen.
In Sydney offco, the default pen table Is “HV-ATtoA3.TBL" as most drawings
are printed in AS forma,
2. Standard Drawing Sizo Plot Print Drives:
For optimum print quality, the Bentley Printer driver should be used, (rather than
the Windows driver, by selecting "Print from the Primary Toolbar
‘Then select: File > Select Bertley Driver > (Canoe! Projectwise dialog box) >
thon select appropriate printer driver from

3. Use of Level
Each type of HV Design MicroStation drawing uses at least one set of Standard
Level Libraries (for access refer Procedure No.4).
‘Typical uses are:
General Arrangements use HV-Gen Arigmt dgnb
‘Single Line Diagrams use HV-New SL Diagrams.dgnlib genoa 26)
‘Switchyard Bay Layouts use HV-Swyd Bays.dgnlib
‘Switchyard Earth Gid Layouts use HV-Earth Grids.dgnliy
simple electrical details use HV-Plant.dgnib
‘Transmission line detals use HV-Tx Line.dgnlib
Many Standard Levels are avallable, so no additional Levels shall bo created.
“The desired Active Level for a drawing is selected from the Level Display Box.
[Note that its default settings for Colour, Syle and Weight will not automatically
replace the settings shown in the Active Attributes Box. These mustinitaly be
‘chosen manually ard the default setings can be found in the “Level Manager”
dialogue box.
‘No work should be done with attributes set “By Level” as this wll conflict
with Level Symboloyy configurations. Once work has been done using &
particular level its quicker to reselect it later as the Active Level by using the
‘SmartMatch tool
‘The default colours for levels are intialy sot only for familiarity when editing
«drawings and the colour ofa particular level may be changed if required.
For linework to appear grey when plotted - only number “250" grey is enabled.
‘Avoid the use of colour number 241" ~ this is unplttable & for system use only.
‘Also avold the use of magenta colour °4" and similar shades "210" & "211"
‘because the default MicroStation highlighter uses this colour for selecting items.
“The default Weight for dimensioning using Level "DIM_E" is set at
Dimension heights are determined by the drawing shest size as folows:
‘A3&AZ se drawings: 2.5mm high text Weight"2" Colour"
‘A1,B1, AOsize drawings: 3.5mm high text Welght"2" Colours
For other text on a drawing, use an appropriate Level as follows:
General labeling & view tting: use level “TXT GEN_E”
Notes, Legends & Material Lists: use level "TXT MAT_E*
For al text (other than dimensions), apply the folowing Text Style Weights:
2.5mm high text (Colour set at "3")
3.5mm high text (Colour set at "3" or "4")
5.0mmbightext set Weight at “¢" (Optional Golour *1")
Tomm high ext set Weight at “5 (Optona Colour “8
4. HV-Design Coll Libraries:
Many items of HV plant and cells of standard material ist, item balloons,
fittings etc. can be sttached to drawings by accessing the Standard HV-Design
Coll Libraries.
Select: Element> Cells > File > Attach Library from lst provided,
Cells can be lterec with the "Stretch" tool. Breaking up cells should be avoided
if possible, as once broken they lose ther identity for future reference.

Working on Switchyard Bays
4. Allnew work shall be done in the Electrical Master whichis an Active Vault
‘Tentative File and must contain the 3-character prefix of the relevant Substation
eg. "YSN_ELECT_MASTER.OGN’ Is the Master for Yass Substation.
‘The Master can bé constantly updated and is therefore never protected as an
approved drawing, 30 care must be taken with any changes as they may affect
any associated unapproved drawings.
‘The Master shall be at full size, orthogonal, with North orientated upwards within
180 degrees (dependant onsite orientation)
Bay plant, General Arrangement items and Earth Grd detals, as required, shall,
be drawn over the same plan, using their appropriate Levels. ‘With this method,
any alterations tothe plan wil immediately reveal if any overlaid detalis require
changes to sul. also avoids unnecessary duplication which invites omissions.
The Master shall centain al the relevant switchyard details except for text. Text
is only o be shown on Electrical Masters to identily various views or for specific
instructions and must be on an unplotted Level (such as "UNPa TXT_E")
‘Work on an Electrical Master is referenced into drawings at appropriate scales,
sof dimensioning was applied on the Master it would also be scaled and
probably appear in a drawing at a non-standard size.
Specific views of bays may be created & tiled in the Utlites > “Saved Views”
dialog box so they can be directly referenced into associated drawings.
Bay plant shall use Standard VB Cell Libraries (such as “132kV_NEWPLANT")
fas much as practicable. (Always make sure Libraries are attached as read only).
“Thore aro also cells available for miscellaneous items such as earth stirrups &
longrods.
2. Bay drawings shal be set up using the prooedures gven on page 1.
Bay plans and elevations, as required, shal be referenced into the drawing from
the Electrical Master drawing at a conventional scale.
(Preferred scales are: 1:50 1:100 1:200 1:250 1:500 & 1:1000).
‘Al views other than enlarged detal should be shown atthe same scale,
‘All tex, including dimensions, titles, notes & material list, shall be drawn on the
Front Sheet.
3. General Arrangements shall be set up using the procedures given on page 4
‘The Arrangement plan shall be referenced into the drawing from the Electrical
Master dravzing at a conventional scale. (Preferred scales are: 1:00 1:200
4:250 & 1:500). The arrangement shall have North orientated upwards within
480 degrece (dependant on sita orientation).
If the switchyard is complex, bay plant may need to be shown in a simpler form
than in Bay drawings for improved clarity. Thi is achieved by the following
procedure in the Elsctrical Master
Attach "HV-Gen Arigmt.dgniib' and overlay plant cells from the Cell Library
"GA_SYMBOLS" onto the existing bay plant, New conductors may also need to
be altached to these simplified cells. Make sure allthis work is done using GA
Levels withthe ‘g” suffix (such as “CONg NEW_E" so that these Levels are
‘exclusive from the usual Bay drawing Levels.

Alltex, including dimensions, les, notes & material ists, shall then be drawn
onthe Front Sheet.
Working on Single Line Diagrams
4. SLD Diagrams shal be setup using the procedures glven on page 1 and shall
be drawn as a Medel within the Drawing Flo, A Model drawing is created by
Using the Models too Al deta drawn as a Model shall be a fl size scale and
shall use the Level brary “HV-New SL. Diagrams" as noted previously.
2. Drawings shal be constructed on a Sm Grid wit symbol call, conductor nes
and text snapped te the Grid. necessary, a coser Grid of 2.5mm may be Used
‘hen symbol o tex areas ae restcted
‘Tho advantages of using @ Grid are: quicker symbol and text attachment, an
“aligned” appearance ofthe drawing and, mre portant, t makes future
eating easier
3. SLD Symbols ae referenced from the Standard HV-Design Cel Library
"NEWSLD-SYMBOLS.CEL”
Examples of SLD Lovel usage
‘New General Plante, Cet Breakers) on “PLTa NEW_E" Line Weight *2"
Existing General Plant fon "PLTa EXT_E" Line Weight “2°
[New Major Plan: (eg, Transformers) on "PLTb NEW_E” Line Weight “3°
"New Main Connector ines on *CONa NEW._E"
Existing Main Connector ines on "CONa EXT_E”
"New Connector ne Joints on SINT NEW. E"
New Main Busbar ines on "BUSa NEW.
Now Text (for New Plant) on “TXT NEW
Existing Text (for Existing Plant) on “TXT EXTE"
4. Text Style weights shall be set as per page 3, withthe folowing usage:
‘Text height 2.5mm used for general symbol references and values
Text height 3.5mm used for major items as required (such as Tx's)
Text height 5.0mm used for main ties e.g Line feeder designations,
5. SLD Diagrams, unlike other layouts, may include the text associated with plant
ssyibols within the Model drawing. The Mode! drawing should be referenced at
1:1 into the Front Sheet of the drawing, but i rare cases where ths is no longer,
possible, due to sheet size constrains, the Model may be scaled marginally 0
fit. This, of course, is only practical the text is within the Model drawing
