Abstract

The novel Lord of the Flies is filled with symbolism that displays the microcosm of the society

the boys are living in. Each of the boys symbolize something different in their society. Ralph

stands for civilization and democracy. Piggy stands for intellect and rationalism while Jack

represents savagery and dictatorship. Simon is the boy who represents incarnation and

saintliness. All of these traits reflect the symbolism the author is trying to convey in the novel.

Conclusion

William Golding is the author of the well-known novel Lord of the Flies. He has won a Nobel

Prize for Literature. In Lord of the Flies a group of schoolboys are stranded on an island after a

plane crash. They are forced to break up into rival groups based on values. The boys manage to

survive on their own with no adult supervision in hopes that they are rescued while dealing with

fear within themselves
