Professional Development Plan

Developing your Professional Development Plan is a time for reflecting on your

accomplishments and for looking forward. You can use the Professional Development Reflection
and Planning Guide located in Appendix E on page 27 of your Preparing your Portfolio Guide,
OR use the following questions to write your professional development plan.

Who are you? Who were you? What has influenced your career in early childhood? Where do
you see yourself in one year? In three years? In five years? Consider your strengths as a person
and as a teacher. What areas do you still need to work on? Where do you struggle? What steps
can you take to improve? What are your strengths? How can you build on them and make the
most impact with your strengths? Prioritize your future goals. What is most important to you?
Make a list from 1-10, with one being the most important. Consider how you will attain each of
those goals. What needs to happen to make you successful? Develop the steps you will need to
take, or are in the process of taking, to realize your goals.

Your Professional Development Plan will be assessed on the following requirements.
