The selected sensor length should be such that, allowing for lateral belt drift, it
always extends past the edge of the belt. Assuming that the belt drifts by less
than 3 (75mm) this requires an sensor length that is 6 (150mm) longer than
the belt width. Using this criterion, the various available Cord Guard models
together whit the recommended belt widths are shown in Table 5.1.
Tabla 5.1.
Belt calming
Two straight idlers need to be mounted aprox. 1.5 m apart to flatten the belt
and minimize belt vibrations. The magnet is placed between the first and
second rollers and the sensor aprox. 1 m downstream of the second roller.
segundo rodillo.
Magnet keeper
The magnet is shipped with a steel keeper in order to comply with the air
transport regulations. This keeper must be removed from the magnet for the
system to operate correctly.
Guarda imn
Magnet
Although this is the preferred mounting position of the magnet, there are a
couple of the other considerations. Firstly the magnet should be mounted
upstream of the sensor if possible. Secondly, and most importantly, the magnet
should be mounted in a region where there are no belt vibrations. The magnet
may be mounted close to a pulley (where vibrations are minimal) if necessary,
although if it is mounted too close then the interaction between the pulley and
the magnet will cause a problem. The minimum recommended distance from a
pulley is 500 mm (20).
The sensor and magnet can be mounted as close as possible to the belt.
However, you run the risk of a belt flap hitting the sensor or magnet.
Both the sensor and magnet have a mounting bracket that runs along their
length which can be used to attach them to the conveyor frame.
The magnet must be oriented such that the mounting bracket faces away from
the conveyor belt as shown in Figure 5.2.
Imn
Belt orientation
The left of the belt is defined as follows: If you are sitting on the top cover of
the belt facing the direction of travel then your left is the belt`s left. This is best
calculated on the loaded section (rather than the return section) where the
carry side is on top of the belt. Be careful to take any turnovers into account
and note that a belt with a single turnover has only 1 edge.
