Welcome to the world of Aberrant, its the year 2008 and the golden age of the nova is beginning its end.
The world is divided between those who have embraced the new evolution of humanity and those that deny
its inevitable drive.
Synopsis
On the surface Outbreak is a pretty straight forward mission. Get in, grab the evidence, get out, and get
your reward. But nothing is so simple in the Aberrant world.
The data involved revolves around recombinant transgenic DNA (rtDNA) sequencing, a form of research
restricted by Project Utopia. According to recent rumors the project was a success. The scientists at the
facility successfully created a new virus that could remove specific sequences of target DNA and replace it
with preprogrammed DNA sequences in embryonic material. The successful deployment of this meta-virus
would alter the genetics of baseline humans to create super-soldiers.
Lung Tien Biotics (LTB) has been working on unlocking the genetic secrets of eruption. Using research
stolen from the now famous Dr. Mazarin, as well as the nova genius of Dr. Sung Lin, the scientists of LTB
have taken the work to its next level, that of practical application. Before they could create test-tube novas,
they needed the tools and mechanism to make the changes. Their efforts to make these tools led the
scientists down the path of transgenic manipulation the introduction of genetic traits of one species into
another.
The LTB research team has not yet succeeded in encoding the M-R Node DNA sequences (Doctor Sun Lin
had her doubts about the latest approach), but their meta-virus was fully functional and more efficient than
they had ever hoped. Project Proteus would love to get their hands on this meta-virus. It could grant Proteus
baseline agents a needed edge in the field. Because of this researchs significance, Project Proteus is pulling
quite a few strings to make this go their way.
Unfortunately for LTB one of their lead scientists had a secret - he was a Nakato Yakuza mole. Three months
before the adventure begins, he is discovered, and is forced to volunteer for a high risk experiment for
directed transgenic-eruption, via a new strain of the meta-virus. The experiment failed, but erupt the spy did,
into a horrendous mutant nova. His violent escape into the surrounding tunnels exposed the facilitys
subterranean location, as well as alerting Utopian agents and Teragen sympathizers in the region. Over the
course of the next three months, two Proteus teams failed to return from their recon missions. Yesterday,
LTB suffered an event in Silo-10. Both Silo 9 and 10 are in lock-down, cut off from the rest of the Lung
Tien Biotics Research Complex and the outside world. A Sanitization and Extraction operation is pending.

The capital of Indonesias Java Province and the home to over 10 million souls is a bustling metropolis and
center of government. Jakarta is also a magnet for traveling novas, whether they are errant Elites or members of
Team Tomorrow Asia. Everyone is drawn to the diversity of shops, historic architecture and our varied
museums.
In Jakarta, one pleasure available 24 hours a day, is our shopping. With over 25 plazas and malls, as well as
hundreds of traditional Art boutiques, all the shopping one could desire is accessible via taxi or a short walk.
Business and Government both are ever present in the city of Jakarta, between the towering office buildings and
the stately government houses, an avid entrepreneur could meet and rub shoulders with the leading men and
women of our fine country. Because Jakarta ranks so prominently in both business and government one can
experience or even influence new government initiatives, Jakarta is also the preferred test-market for many
Indonesian businesses permitting our citizens to influence developing innovations in the Southeast Pacific Rim.

the special exhibits Rangunan Zoo offers a fairly exhaustive exhibit of the birds of the world with over 3,122
birds. These exhibits also serve the zoo in aiding of propagation of endangered avians. Special attractions
include a Childrens Zoo, elephant, pony, cart and boat rides.

This adventure module was a work of love, as the original premise was to bundle up a few adventures our
group had so others could use or steal from our experiences. It turned into a rather long trial of wills and sweat,
but here it is (can you imagine it only took me an hour or so to write this up in my notebook). This adventure
was seeded by material found in the Aberrant: Year One book as well as references found in the Aberrant:
Players Guide. I wanted to challenge my players with an adventure that would show them how the baselines
could become a threat to nova-kind.
Admittedly this is a rather linear adventure, but it was like this intentionally. I was still breaking my
players in and showing them various facets of the system. This adventure looks at Perceptive and Barrier rules,
as well as exposing the team to a piece of Indonesia. The Advert included was presented to them as if it was
from the Java Department of Tourism, and was a nice counter point to the Year One write-up, which paints the
city of Jakarta rather darkly and realistically. This was one of the themes I was focusing on at the time, the
effects of encouraging a broadly stratified culture, where the middle class is non-existent. This furthered
mirrored current state of Nova relations, where Novas and baselines sit on opposite ends of the spectrum of
socio-economic power.
Those who looked closely at the above timeline might have noticed that this adventure has the
parenthetical code of JMP:1 This is actually a meaningful code: J signifies that this adventure was made by
me!, M Indicates that this adventure will favor Mega-Mental novas, P indicates that Mega-Physical novas
will also find a chance to shine. The last code NOT used to detail this adventure is the S code which indicates
a Mega-Social focus. Unbeknownst to my players (at least at the time) was that I would systematically rotate my
adventures to support two if the three.
Regardless of everything else, I hope this adventure at least gave an idea or two, and at worst helped someone
hold off complete boredom.
