Sports and clubs at PHS

Sports and clubs are popular at Plainwell High School. Clubs have many benefits like building new
friendships, helping the community or making your reputation have a better look.
National Honor Society looks great on a resume and really helps when applying for scholarships
said Ellie Beachler 17.
Clubs and sports are fun and all, but you must be able to balance the two. Plainwell High School has
many rules and regulations against participating while having bad grades.
As a student athlete you have to put school first, I do my homework before my practices and games
said Kenzie Hovenkamp 19
Student athletes must maintain a 1.67 GPA and can not be failing two or more classes, if they want to
retain their spot on the team.
Sometimes you have to sacrifice your social life, in order to get everything done. In the end, your
education is more important than a sport you played in high school said Matt Root 18
Although an athlete may have to sacrifice some of their free time, working and grinding through
a season can start to seem tough, but winning a big game against rival Otsego, being considered an
all- conference player or winning a division title can make it all worth it.
Being considered all-conference is kinda an honor because other teams in the conference
recognize you as a great consistent player all year in the Wolverine Conference said Hunter Nielsen
17
Clubs and sport teams are a great way to bring PHS together and act more united, joining one
of these outside programs is a great way to kick off your high school career.
