Planning a Book Trailer

1. Identify the audience for your book trailer. Who are you designing this for?

Learner Analysis:
a. Age/Gender: 5/6 year old boys & girls

b. Cultural Background: low income students, largely populated

with African Americans and Hispanic students

c. Educational Level: lower than average for most schools

d. Special Needs/Accommodations: The school has a gifted

program for 1% of the students. An ESOL
program for 14% of the students. And a
program for kids with learning disabilities for 6%
of the students.

e. Specific Entry Skills: N/A

e. Motivation Kellers ARCS Model (How will you design your book trailer to get the
attention of your audience?)
Attention Grab the students attention by using bright colors and bold fonts. Also, grab
them with the conflict of cows that type. By creating perceptual arousal.
Relevance This will be a little harder being that you cant relate to cows that type.
However, I will be able to build off of their knowledge about cows and about who uses
computers (or in this case, a typewriter).
Confidence Establish confidence in the fact that they will be able to read the text in the
book. They will be able to view the pictures, along with the text and understand the book. Give
them feedback about the book.
Satisfaction The book is a feel good, funny, fictional book. The students will enjoy reading
and talking about the book.
