Algebra 2 End of Course Reflection

Throughout the year in Algebra 2, one topic that I learned this year that I have improved

on is Logarithms. At first I definitely wasnt very fond of them and wanted to know exactly

when it would be useful using logs in the real world. The way I had improved on using logs was

viewing videos on Khan Academy and asking questions about the homework if I didnt

understand the problem. Also, when doing class assignments I compare answers with other

classmates to see if we both got the same answer. If I got the answer incorrect I would have them

show me how they solved the problem to see where I caught my error.

The flipped classroom model was very beneficial to me because the videos were specific

in the way you needed to solve the problems. Although, at times there were videos that I didnt

understand what they were doing at all so when I was taking notes I still couldnt get a grasp on

how they solved the problem. The videos also helped me through entrance tickets when I was

confused on solving the problem and needed something to refresh my memory on how to solve

it. This technique was useful and helped my learning experience because it improved my note

taking skills as well. Also, how well I could understand the material by viewing a video.

Im not sure if I am going to take a more advanced math class next year because I dont

really see myself having a career that has to deal with numbers. Ive come to this decision

because math hasnt always been my strong point through my years going to school. Although,

when I feel like I have a good understanding of the material I like math but I am not a fast

learner like other students. I need to sit down one on one with the teacher to have a better

understanding of the topic.
