For this class, I will start with using student-centered lecturing by showing them the power point
of Activities and Interests expressions in German with pictures and sound but no English on the
overhead projector.
Instructional Activities and Procedures
Since I use the student-centered method, I will enforce students to participate the class even at
the beginning of class. I will ask them what do you do in your free time in English and then I
will teach them the target vocabularies and the expression on the overhead projector. The student
will repeat them after me and then they will copy them down in their notebook so the visual
learners will see vocabularies with pictures and take note, auditory learners will hear and take
notes to master their learning. I will ask students questions in the target language and then they
will ask the same question to each other to interact. Then they will work in groups to make up a
Modifications/Differentiated Instruction
My school is located in the west of Texas and it is a border city, the border with Mexico. So most
of my students are Hispanic but I have white, Afro-American students as well. My students have
different kinds of learning style, but as well as I know most of them are visual and kinesthetic
learners, but a few of them are auditory learners. They have almost no prior knowledge about
this topic.
Motivation is key for students, so I will motivate them and I will use reading, writing, listening
and speaking to meet their different learning skills. Small groups, partner work, questions-
answers are keys to keep them interactive. I will use visual materials such as video, projector,
and pictures, and I will use listening for the auditory learners, reading also will help. As I stated
before motivation is key to engage them, using questions- answer format is another one to
engage them in classes. Using technology will help to keep them focused on the topic.
Evaluation:
My student will already show me by doing partner work and group works activities but there will
be a short quiz about activities to measure how much they learned and give them a grade. In
addition, I will assign them our textbook online homeworks link on Edmodo to do on a specific
date. There will be new topics song link there as well. They will watch /listen and write down
Closure:
I will make a quick review of what we learned during the class and what we will do next class. In
addition to this, I will remind them their homework, which is the textbook online link on
Edmodo.
