BAB III

The population in this research were all students of eighth grade at SMPN 2 Amuntai Utara
totaling 16 students. Because population Because the population is not many, only 16
students. So, all the population sampled is called total sampling

The data that will be investigated in this research are the primary and the secondary
data:
The primary Data
Data about the eighth grade students reading interest at SMPN 2 Amuntai Utara.
Data about the eighth grade students reading ability at SMPN 2 Amuntai Utara.
Secondary Data
General description of the study site include a brief history of the establishment at SMPN 2
Amuntai Utara.
The state of SMPN 2 Amuntai Utara include state school principals, teachers, administrative
staff and student numbers and facilities at SMPN 2 Amuntai Utara.

Respondents is The students at the eight class of SMPN 2 Amuntai Utara who are taken as
subject in this research.
Informant is Headmaster, English teacher and administrator at SMPN 2 Amuntai Utara.
Documentary is all written reports about subject and important documents has related to the
data that needed in this research
Technique of Data Collecting : questionnaire, test, observation, interview, and documentary

In this research, there are two variable that the reseacher will collect and analized. They are
devendent variable (is student reading interest) and indevendent variable (is student reading
ability)

The data were then processed by the writer through the editing, scoring, tabulating, and
interpretation of data
