LEARNING ACTIVITIES:

Friday
Opening: Today we will review place value. Who can tell me about place value using
the number 476? Go over anchor chart to cover about expanded form, word form, and
base 10 form.
During: Show how students can roll the three dice and use the place value mat on the
elmo. Take the number and plot each answer into the correct box. Do several examples.
Allow students about five minutes to practice this skill while you go around assisting.
After: Have students complete worksheets in math workbook. Have them then turn
the papers in and go to math centers.

DIFFERENTIATION: Have student work in group with his buddy helping along the way.
Break down the lesson and do only the ones place until it is mastered. Then the student may
move to tens and ones. Once tens is mastered the student may proceed to the hundreds place.
ASSESSMENT:
Students will be assessed throughout the week via observations and class work. The end of the
unit has an assessment that will be used.
