Some would argue that children will be more beneficial for growing up in the city, while others

would be of the opinion that raising in the less urban areas bring more advantages for their
childhood. Despite it is safer to be brought up in the countryside, personally I believe that urban
life will be better for children in term of personal development.

On the one hand, it is believed that the living in the countryside is safer, compared to
metropolitan areas. That is to say that there are less traffic and criminal like thief or people with
sexually abusive behaviors in rural areas. Therefore parents can allow their offsprings to play
outside or go to school themselves without supervising. As a result, children will have more
freedom to enjoy their childhood. For instance, about 87% of countryside boys and girls go to
school themselves. However, this essay disagrees with this view because city environment is also
safe for children with supports from the council.

On the other hand, youngsters will have more opportunities to develop their skills as well as
prepare better for adult life in urban places. There are more chances for them to participate in
activities like acting, dancing or learning foreign languages in their community that is subsidized
by the state. As practicing is the key to the best development of soft skills, city children are more
likely to have better personal skills, therefore they are more competitive in the future. A recent
statistic from the Education Department shows that soft skills of young ones who are grown up
in the urban areas are better. This essay agrees with this view because a good development
environment is more important for our future global citizens.

In conclusion, although there is a view that rural areas are safer for bring up offspring, it is the
opinion of this essay that city is the best place for nurturing their skills.
